Other objects are 'opaque'; they block light completely, creating a dark area behind them called a shadow. Think of yourself standing in the sun – your body blocks the sunlight, and your shadow appears on the ground. Finally, some objects are 'translucent,' allowing some light to pass through but scattering it, so objects behind them appear blurry, like frosted glass. Reflection is what happens when light bounces off a surface, much like a ball bouncing off a wall. When light hits a smooth, shiny surface like a mirror, it bounces back in a way that allows us to see an image of ourselves or other objects. This bouncing back of light is called reflection, and it's how mirrors work!
