A Database Management System (DBMS) is like the librarian for this digital collection. It's a software that allows us to create, maintain, and access databases easily and efficiently. Instead of manually sifting through files, the DBMS helps us add new student details, update existing ones, delete old records, or quickly find all students who scored above 90% in maths. Each piece of information, like a student's name, is a 'field'. A complete set of information for one student is a 'record'. And all these records together, structured in rows and columns like a spreadsheet, form a 'table'. Understanding these basic concepts helps children appreciate how computers handle vast amounts of information in an orderly manner, which is essential for almost every modern digital system.
