Is, Am, Are Worksheets (Class 1 & 2)
Is, am, and are are the three present-tense forms of the verb to be. CBSE and most school boards introduce them in Class 1 and revisit them in Class 2, because almost every simple English sentence a child writes uses one of these three words. These worksheets give your child guided practice picking the right form for the subject — I am, he is, they are — with a printable PDF, answer key, and an option to solve online.
The rule, simply
- Use am with I only: I am happy.
- Use is with a singular subject: He / She / It / Riya is here.
- Use are with you, we, they or a plural subject: They are playing.
- In questions, the verb comes first: Is she your sister?
- In short negatives, use is not / isn't, am not, are not / aren't.
Example questions
- I ___ a student.Answer: am
- She ___ my best friend.Answer: is
- They ___ playing in the park.Answer: are
- ___ you ready for school?Answer: Are
